Hi All, weather closing in again....soon be cold! Lots been going on over the past few weeks. Just want to apologise to those that ring but dont get an answer! Being here on my own if i answered every call i get i would be on the phone all day and not get any work done so i cant answer all the time. The best way is to drop me an email as i check them a few times a day. I am also inundated with PPI calls, and when i get out from under a car to answer the phone and a computer is telling me how rich i am it generally gets thrown across the workshop !! i am sure you know what i mean and it happens 2-3 times a day!
Now is the time to get any work booked in for the winter period as it does get busy with cars taken off the road for the winter. I am now working on bikes aswell, harleys and choppers aswell as trikes. Painting of tanks/fenders ect. If you are interested in work on these lines just drop me an email with what you want and i will get back to you straight away. I am still running the carb rebuild service, this has proved to be popular so far so you can send it to me in the post. It will get rebuilt and tested before it is sent back to you.
Look forward to hearing from you

Hi All, a few changes here at Pauls Place. I am no longer selling parts online or over the phone due to the amount of engine work i am doing. The work level for myself was very high and so i am concentrating on the engine building/tuning side of things. I am sorry if this causes any inconvenience but i cant do it all. There are plenty of suppliers of parts so nothing to worry about too much. I can still fit parts that i order in and carry out modifications and upgrades aswell as full re-builds. The paint shop is still running but it is now managed by someone else. The paint work can still come through me and i see the job through i just wont be doing it myself. If i find a suitable person with knowledge of engine parts then i will carry on supplying parts.

ENGINE TRAINING COURSE
Hi All, what a nasty time of year. Weather is not pleasant and the bills come in thick and fast....but soon be spring and the start of the new season!
Just thought i would let you all know that i am holding an engine building course here in my workshop in february over 4 saturdays. Details are in the special offers section, i will be building a 350ci chevy from bare block to running engine giving instruction on everything you need to know about the parts, the process and usefull information on how to build and tune your engine. It will be heald on 4th,11th/18th/25th of Feb on saturday afternoons. The last one i did was a huge success and have been asked to do another one, there will be more later in the year also.just email me if you are interested with your contact details and i will give you all the info. Things are pretty busy here with engines coming in from all over, just had a pair of supercharged 572ci engines in for full rebuild going in a boat. Also got the 307 olds on the go, parts arrived now and so have the balanced parts for the 400M. So lots to do, paintshop has been steady, got a range rover coming in in feb, and looking at an old Lotus elan on saturday for a full paint. My own 3rd gen camaro was painted over christmas in Kandy Brandy wine and come out great, pictures are in the gallery and on face book. Just painting a 95 camaro convertible in the same colour at the moment, the owner saw my car and wanted the same. I have found a way of doing Kandy paint jobs for not alot more than a std paint colour so if its something your interested in call me for a chat.
7th December 2011
Well we are getting close to that time of year when the cars get put away and money gets spent on other things! Some of us anyway!! Things here are still busy with lots going on and plenty booked in for the new year. Engine wise i have almost finished the 2 540 strokers for an offshore power boat. They will be put on the dyno very soon so i will give figures at the end. Got an unusual 307ci olds engine which came out of the caprice station wagon we painted recently, she is pretty messy inside but is a good runner so just a fresheh up required. Also have a ford 250ci V8 out of a 1962 pickup, quite unusual. Again on the rarety list is a 400M engine, this has Australian heads on it running flat top pistons so is quite a nice beast. She was raced hard and there is wear in the small end bushes so they are being replaced. She also ran floating pins with ally ends which have made a nice groove in a couple of the bores so going +0.040" to rid of those. The galaxy in the paint shop has come to a halt as the rear quarters we ordered have arrived and are nothing like !!! The front end is almost ready for paint so a bit annoying when this happens. I have got my camaro RS in for a Kandy brandy wine paint job at the moment so pictures will hit the gallery shortly. I have a couple of jenson intercepters and an overfinch range rover booked in for the new year for full paint jobs, so looking forward to doing those. I havent had much feedback on the training course, maybe its time of year? so if not enough interest then i will do it in the new year. I now have a face book page which you can all go on and pass comment..nice ones please! Will post more info on here before xmas.
23rd November
Its getting cold now folks! time to get the woolies out.
Since i last wrote i have built 2 more rover v8's, one for a range rover and the other for a P5 rover. On going at the moment is 2 540 big block strokers for an offshore power boat,a 307ci olds engine for a caprice station wagon thats just been painted here. just come in is an unusual 400M cleveland engine for a pro street anglia van ! Nice bit of kit with all the right bits in it, pictures will be posted shortly. Also had an overfinch range rover in with a broken flex plate, and a ford F250 diesel truck which is a non starter so plenty going on. Pulled the engine out of a pro street challenger today, it has a supercharged 440ci in it currently but going to stroke it to 528ci with Indy heads and overdriven blower ! What a way to make a living ! Pictures will be posted as it progresses.
Still holding engine build training course soon so any one interested contact me for info.
2nd November
Hi everyone, its been a while because i have been on holiday for a couple of weeks in october so catch up was the name of the game when i got back ! I finally got the cobra finished after having to modify the heads to take adjustable pushrods. But running ok now so Geoff will be pleased to get his car back. A few more cars have been finished in the paint shop, the lotus cortina was fully painted and so was a morgan. Pictures are in the gallery,we have almost finished a chevy caprice station wagon which has been put back to its original two tone colours. Its come out really nice and pictures will be added very shortly.
Some of you will pleased to know that i am organising another engine building training course for the end of november. I will be building a stroker small block chevy engine with performance heads. All details will be in the special offer section giving dates ect. I am not sure yet if i am doing it over a few evenings in succesion or over a couple of weeks. If anyone is interested in attending this course please email me with your details and i will send you a description of what the course covers. the last one i put on had great feed back and i have been asked to do another one. Just finished two rover v8's,one for a P5 and one for a range rover. pictures will go in the gallery, i am about to start a 305 olds engine and a blown 440 chrysler so back to the grind stone.
2nd Sept 2011
Hi Again, had a good week this week. The cortina is now finished and i will be putting a few miles on her today to check evberything still works! The morgan body is now in paint so a big jigsaw puzzle for the next few days. Pictures coming! Had a rare bristol in yesterday in lovely condition. Came in for new starter, and an electronic ignition conversion, i am sure i will see the owner again as he was happy with our work. Had a few issues with parts this week, it seems everything i order either turns up late or when it turns up its wrong! Not sure whats going on there but got to make a few calls today!! taking a pro street challenger to the dyno today to see what she has as the customer has requested she runs a 9! so i need to see where she is at right now to work out what we have to do to get her there. Having a BBQ this afternoon with my staff as it is friday, if anyone is around my way please feel free to pop in for a burger and a chat.

18 August 2011
Hi All, i have been making some changes here at Pauls Place to make it all better for you out there. I have increased staff levels so that my business can progress. For quite a few years now i have run the business on my own, but this year the work load has increased to the level where i couldnt cope with it all. I then had some temporary staff to help but this wasnt the answer. I now have 4 full time staff which has made things alot better. Your calls will get answered if you call between 10-2:30 as the office is manned during that time so if you want to order parts or book in work thats when to do it. The paint shop is going really well with new staff that have been in the game for a long time so new things going on there. I have help in the engine shop so things are running nicely now. I apologise if the level of service hasnt been great up till now but like any business you cant expand until the work comes in continuously. My standard of work has all ways been of a high standard but i couldnt get it out quick enough, its all a learning curve. Thankyou for your patients up till now and i hope you continue to use my business in the future.

13th July ( closed saturday at Dragstalgia !!)
Hi All, i am having staff issues at the moment so am stretched further than before therefore i am having difficulty answering the phone as existing customers are priority. I have to apologise to you all for this but i am going as fast as i can. This is only short term but was unforseen, the joys of running a business i suppose ! I hope this blog entry doesnt deter you from using my services, i still read my emails daily but only have time to answer a handful as i get around 20 a day ! If you want parts and cant find them on the website then drop me an email. You can still pay for items online with a debit card by using the paypal link which is the same as paying over the phone. We are about a week behind at the moment but should have caught up by the weekend. A few more late nights should do it until my staff return.I am working on an engine building course which will happen soon. I will post the dates and prices nearer the time with plenty of notice so look out for the blog entry and the updated description in the special offers page.Paul
1st July CLOSED TODAY
Hi all, i am closed all day today as going away fro the weekend, sorry if its a problem but all work no play is no good ! Have a good weekend !
28th June - CLOSED ON FRIDAY
Hi All, well a bit of progress the last few days. The Lincoln parts have finally arrived after 5 weeks waiting for a seal kit !! so can crack on with that now. The Jenson engine is ready to go back in and the P6 rover is getting there. Paint shop is also doing ok with the TR4 now all painted so flat and polishing at the mo ready for reassembly. Its funny how all of a suddon things come togethor after a wave of problems. It seems waiting for bits is becoming a past time !! the phone may not get answered alot today as we are all flat out under cars so please email if its important please. And heads up that Pauls Place will be closed on friday. Have a good day.
20th june
Hi All, been a while since i blogged but had a bit of time off and really busy. Concentrating on a TR4 at the moment getting it painted, the Jenson engine is now built and ready for paint so will be going back in the car very soon. Have increased staff levels to cope with the work so moving forward which is great. I made a revision to the website today on the rover v8 parts. A reconditioned crank for a 3.5 rover had a surcharge of £171 ? not sure why so have changed it to £50 which is what i pay for a good useable crank to machine.Been building some Holley carbs the last couple of weeks, if you havent noticed all ready i do a mail repair service for them. If you are having problems with your carb you can send it to me for a full recondition and test as i have a test rig to run them up on to check for leaks and operation. This is alot cheaper than buying a new carb ! Prices include parts and labour but not postage. This is in the special offers section.
7th June
Hi All, i thought i would let you know that tomorrow the 8th of June i will be closed due to going to family funeral. Sorry if this causes any problems.
6th June
What a week last week....i think i missed hundreds of calls for which i apologise! Did some work out on site such as full service on a nice 57 chevy, also fitted electronic ignition. And worked on a couple of boats aswel, so a bit of different scenery last week. This week i am finishing the black 65 impala that came in for a tune, found the front wheel bearing hanging out. A ford explorer that is now ready for MOT after changing inlet manifold gaskets due to air leak. Still weaiting for seals for the lincoln which is driving me mad, the jenson conrods are done after finding a bent one! so customer will be happy to get his car back after waiting for parts initially, then finding out heads were cracked and the conrod issue! The hudson hornet has had its carbed re jetted but the vacuum advance unit is US so just waiting for one of those. Mustang is all done but found a small black spot on the bonnet so repainting it. Had a couple more cars come in for the paint shop last week, a TR4 which is light resto, pictures will be in the gallery, and a 500 galaxy convertible for full resto, again pictures will be posted as and when. No rush on this one but will be keen to get on with it.
31st May
Another bank holiday over with, this really makes the end of the month come around quick!
A few cars going out today, 59 fairlane which came in for service and starter rebuild. An XK150 jaguar which came in for door hinges dropped, common problem with these. the mustang is now all painted and polished so going back togethor today and going out tomorrow. I will put the pictures on the website tonight as didnt get round to it last week. The ranchero has now gone after painting the bed liner in it, it really finishes off the car.
This morning i had a hudson hornet come in for a full tune up as the carbs fitted are not giving enough fuel, a 65 impala has come in for similar reasons and just booked in a sumo cobra for an engine build. Been a busy day so far and the phone hasnt stopped all morning so i feel like i have done a days work all ready, i guess its an age thing !
I forgot to mention the engine in a P6 rover that we pulled out this morning aswell for a clean up and paint, plus lots of new parts for the car so i guess it will be a late one again tonight...ho hum!
24th May
Hi all, just wanted to mention that i am still having issues with my website as far as the shipping costs go. The system works on weight of the items and so there is a sliding scale of cost depending on weight of items in the cart. If you want to order online and are unhappy with the shipping cost let me know so i can check to see if the charged amount is correct. I can then go into the site and adjust the weight if it is wrong. because there are alot of items on the site it is taking quite a while to go through them all to check the weights, but i am on the case. This especially applies to non uk orders, because the items have to be weighed after they are packaged i dont know the exact cost of shipping until this time so shipping costs are approximate! I will contact you by email if the charge is not enough to cover the cost. it is very expensive to ship to europe and the delivery times arent great either, i have changed shipping companies to improve this so i am on the case with it to try and keep the prices as competitive as possible.
Also please understand that some items you order will be out of stock, it is impossible to go through the website and mark everything that is out of stock and then readjust it when they are in stock, but if they are out of stock when you order i will email you to give you an eta or refund the order if its too long to wait. I do my best to make sure the system works well but its hard graft to keep it up to date so if you have any quiries about cost ect please dont hesitate to contact me. I will probably get a thousand calls now but hey ho!
18th May
Hi All, been really busy the last few days and to top it all my van failed the MOT so no transport....great!! you spend all your time working on everyone elses cars and forget your own, still getting things sorted.
The Mustang that came in at the beginning of the week is now ready for primer so should be painted by monday, the ranchero is still waiting for a bed liner to be sprayed in it which shouldnt be long now and the engine is back in the mercedes at last. She is looking good now, even the rocker cover has been polished to give it an extra bit of bling.
Also got an XK150 jaguar in for the usual door pin repair. They are common for it and its a nasty job to do but almost there. Today we serviced a day van and a 59 fairlane so keeping busy, if you fancy coming in on saturday for a coffee please do, i will be a little worse for wear though as having an all night poker night so plenty of beer. see ya
11th May a rainy wednesday!
Hi All, got through some emails last night as stayed late again, i think if i carry on like that i will be single by the end of the week!
Stretched my arms a bit today by sending an order to south africa for the first time, its a small world these days.
Still working on the 440ci mopar for a jenson, found a bent conrod which has to be sorted which has heald me back a bit. Putting a replacement engine in a Mk3 lincoln, so swapping bits over to do the swap.
Also have a mustang coming in to the paint shop today so as busy as ever! the ranchero is almost done so will update pictures soon, customer has requested a bed liner so just got that to do. The mercedes engine is being painted also so that will go back in shortly as the painting of the car is now all done.
As you can see we are pretty busy here so if the phone doesnt get answered its because we are under one of these cars, i will answer when ever i can. Have a good day
Paul
Monday 9th May
Hi all, i thought it would be a good idea to let everyone know whats going on here at pauls place on a daily basis. Because my business consists of 3 parts some times time is the issue.
When i came back of easter and may bank holiday i had 170 emails to go through! plus i am getting around 20 a day so to go through them all aswell as build engines and paint cars is quite difficult.
One thing i can say is i thank you all for helping build my business to this level and i will do my upmost to increase staff to cope with all the work but this is a difficult decision to make due to current climate. I can take on staff and then things quiten down so aslong as the business keeps coming in i will develop it to cope with any thing and maintain the level of service that i like to give.
I will keep you informed of dates when i will be at racing days or car shows so you can have a chat in person plus saturday coffee mornings are getting busier so you are welcome to come and have a chat then. I will update the blog almost everyday so you can see whats going on here. Many thanks Paul
